Course Description: This course provides an overview of fire-rated cementitious-coated OSB sheathing for wall and roof sheathing applications. We will discuss its performance and structural properties, applications, and installation. We will also discuss using a combination of value-added engineered wood siding and fire-rated cementitious-coated OSB sheathing to accomplish a one-hour fire resistance.

Learning Objectives:

-Identify the components and understand the physical attributes of fire-rated cementitious-coated OSB (FRCC OSB) sheathing.
-Learn how FRCC OSB sheathing and other value-added engineered wood products can be used to meet code requirements while reducing labor costs and construction time.
-Become acquainted with code requirements and testing standards relevant to FRCC OSB sheathing and how these products can help with a changing building atmosphere.
-Demonstrate common construction applications relevant to sheathing and wall applications using FRCC and WRB (water-resistive barrier) panels.
