"THE ADVANTAGES OF TREATED- ENGINEERED-WOOD SIDING"
Course Description:
An Introduction to Treated-Engineered-Wood Siding (TEWS) and applications in residential, light commercial and multi-family construction projects, with explanations of and comparisons to other cladding options commonly specified for these projects. Course content also includes the key benefits of TEWS such as, design potential, workability, durability, sustainability including carbon negativity or carbon negative and use in fire-resistance-rated wall assemblies.
Learning Objectives:
-Provide an overview of residential (R), light commercial (LC), and multi-family (MF) construction types for which treated engineered wood siding (TEWS) is a cladding option and review the major exterior cladding options available for these applications, their benefits and weaknesses.
-Provide an overview of types of treated engineered wood siding (TEWS) and discuss how the technology has evolved since the 1960s, as well as how it’s made.
-Discuss how to meet aesthetic, durability, and weatherability requirements using TEWS in residential (R), light commercial (LC), and multi-family (MF) projects.
-Provide an overview of why TEWS is sustainable and how it can help builders and architects make smarter environmental exterior cladding decisions.
